Diary of a "mom2B"

Pregnancy is challenging, especially for someone who has experienced a prior miscarriage. The hardest part is that no one really talks about it. In Indian movies, pregnancy is often portrayed as a joyful experience, where the woman craves spicy foods and everyone around her is delighted. However, real-life stories are vastly different and vary greatly from person to person.

In reality, people often simplify the experience by saying that the first three months are difficult. During this time, pregnant women face a mix of scientific and superstitious restrictions. Unfortunately, little attention is given to how the mom-to-be is truly feeling.

It’s true that the first trimester is often the most challenging. A new mother constantly worries about whether her actions might harm the baby. Pregnancy, whether planned or unexpected, transforms a woman's life overnight. She can’t always sit or sleep in her preferred position. Spicy foods are usually off-limits. Meanwhile, her body undergoes significant changes: hormones fluctuate, the uterus expands, and the fear of bleeding becomes a constant worry. These issues are common during early pregnancy. However, one should always consult a doctor.  With proper medical guidance and adequate rest, most of these problems can be managed.

Because pregnancy is often treated as a private matter, few women openly share their journeys. This lack of discussion can leave a new mother feeling isolated as if these challenges are unique to her or, worse, her fault.  I feel that women should speak more openly about their pregnancy experiences. If a mom-to-be hears about others' journeys, she’ll realize she’s not alone. It’s human nature to find comfort in similarity with others.
